How to Confirm Payment Before Releasing Cryptocurrency

Before releasing cryptocurrency, make sure the payment has actually been received. Mistakes at this stage are one of the most common causes of fund loss in P2P trading.

1. Check Incoming Funds

Open the banking app or payment service and verify the incoming transfer.

What to verify:

  • Funds must be fully credited to the account, not marked as Processing or Pending

  • Do not rely solely on notifications, receipts, or screenshots

  • Always verify the actual incoming payment using the payment details listed in the order

If the funds have not been credited to the account, do not confirm payment or release the cryptocurrency.

2. Verify Payment Details

Compare the order details with the actual transfer:

  • The payment amount matches exactly

  • The currency matches

  • The sender’s name matches information required in the order, if applicable

If any details do not match, do not confirm payment or release the cryptocurrency.

3. Check the Order Status

In EMCD P2P, the buyer must click Paid after sending the transfer.

This means:

  • The buyer has indicated that the payment was sent

  • The order timer has stopped

  • The trade has entered the payment verification stage

Important: the Paid status does not confirm that funds were actually received. Payment verification always remains the seller’s responsibility.

4. Watch Out for Suspicious Situations

Do not confirm payment if:

  • The buyer provides only screenshots instead of proof of a completed transfer

  • The buyer asks for early release of the cryptocurrency

  • he payment is received from a third party without prior agreement

  • The payment amount does not match the order

  • The payment is still processing, has been canceled, or was refunded

These are common signs of suspicious or potentially fraudulent activity.

5. Make Sure the Payment Is Irreversible

Some payment methods allow transfers to be reversed, disputed, or canceled.

Before confirming the order, verify the following:

  • The payment has a final confirmed status

  • There are no statuses such as Processing, Pending confirmation, or Reversible transfer

  • There is no option to cancel or reverse the transfer in the banking or payment app

If there is any uncertainty, do not release the cryptocurrency until the payment is fully confirmed.

6. Confirm the Order Only After Full Verification

Cryptocurrency should be released only when:

  • The funds have been credited to the account

  • The payment amount and details match the order

  • The payment has been fully confirmed by the bank or payment provider

How EMCD P2P Works

In EMCD P2P, cryptocurrency is held in escrow until the order is completed.

This means:

  • The buyer cannot receive the cryptocurrency without seller confirmation

  • The seller controls when the cryptocurrency is released

  • The platform secures the trade via escrow but does not verify fiat payments

Responsibility for verifying payment always remains with the seller.
