Identity verification (KYC)

Updated over a week ago

What is identity verification (KYC)?

KYC (Know Your Customer) is a procedure used to verify a user’s identity. It’s required to comply with AML/CFT policies (anti–money laundering and counter-terrorist financing) and to enhance platform security.

Completing KYC is mandatory to use certain EMCD services, including P2P trading.

Can I use EMCD without KYC?

Some EMCD features are available with basic access before completing full KYC (identity verification).

With basic access, users may be able to:

  • Mine cryptocurrency

  • Open a Coinhold

  • Send or receive cryptocurrency.

Completing KYC unlocks full access and is required for certain features, higher limits, payouts, or transactions, depending on the service and jurisdiction.

  1. Install the latest version of the EMCD app or update it.

  2. Sign in to your account.

  3. On the home screen, tap the profile icon (top left corner).

Is it safe to share my data with EMCD?

Yes. Under the Terms of Service and the KYC/AML External Policy, EMCD is required to verify users’ identities and assess risk. All personal data is used strictly for KYC/AML purposes, processed in accordance with the Privacy Policy, and is not shared with third parties except where required by law or in response to official requests from authorized authorities.

What should I do if my KYC verification fails?

Check the following:

  1. That your information is correct

  2. The quality of your document photos

  3. That there are no glares, shadows, or cropped areas

  4. That the information matches your current document

Then try again. If the issue persists, please contact support at [email protected].

What to do if KYC verification can’t be completed

Documents issued by unrecognized or partially recognized states

EMCD can’t complete KYC verification for users who submit documents issued by:

  • Unrecognized states

  • Partially recognized states

  • Territories not listed in international registries

Such documents can’t be verified through official databases. To pass KYC, you must provide a document issued by a country recognized by the international community.
