How to start mining Ethereum Classic (ETC)?

How to mine the Ethereum Classic cryptocurrency (ETC) on the EMCD mining pool?

Updated over 2 years ago

1. How to mine ETC?

The coin works on the Ethash algorithm, which means it is mined on video cards (GPU).

✅ Ethereum Classic can be efficiently mined using mining machines that support the Ethash algorithm and devices with a GPU.

❌ Ethereum Classic cannot be effectively mined using CPU cards.

💡 Some video card models will fluctuate between profitability and unprofitability due to changes in the price of ETC.

2. How to choose a device?

The best results can be achieved using graphics processors (GPUs), which are usually used in processing 3D graphics for video games. Mining is also possible on the CPU - the central processor of the system, which is responsible for all the main operations, but the GPU is initially optimized for such operations, so it is better for hashing in the Ethereum network.

3. How to start mining ETC on EMCD?

The first thing you need to do is to sign up on the EMCD website. To sign up and start earning, follow the link - https://emcd.io/pool/dashboard/registration

  • Username is the name that you will use each time you log in to the pool

  • Email - your email address

  • Password - the password to log in to your personal account, do not forget to make it complicated (with signs and numbers), then repeat the password.

Click the check mark and agree to the terms of service and then click on the "Sign up" button. A confirmation email will be sent to your email address. Find this letter on the email that you specified during the sing up process and follow the link. If you didn't find the email, then check the spam.

Specify the wallet

To specify a wallet:

  1. Select ETС in the upper-left corner

  2. Then click on the Settings button

  3. Add your wallet address. You can use any official wallet or use the wallet of an exchange that has Ethereum Classic (ETС).

  4. Then click "Save"

  5. Do not forget to confirm your wallet via personal email

Download the miner:

* T-rex (Nvidia) is recommended for Ethash

* TeamRedMiner (AMD) is recommended for Ethash

* Phoenix (Nvidia + AMD)

* Claymore (Nvidia + AMD)

* Nbminer (Nvidia)

* If you use HiveOS - read this manual

Unpack the miner.

Import the content of the archive into a separate folder (any one)

Download .bat file/edit and add it to the folder with the miner

* Download For T-rex

  • Example of a T-rex bat file:

t-rex.exe --url stratum+tcp://gate.emcd.io:7878 --algo etchash --pass x --user IcY.worker

  • Where "stratum+tcp://gate.emcd.io:7878" is the stratum of the nearest country. See the list of stratums here

  • Where "IcY" is your username on the pool, replace it with your name

* Download For TeamRedMiner

  • Example of the Teamredminer bat file:

teamredminer.exe --algo=etchash --url=stratum+tcp://gate.emcd.io:7878 --user=IcY.worker

  • Where "stratum+tcp://gate.emcd.io:7878" is the stratum of the nearest country. See the list of stratums here

  • Where "IcY" is your username on the pool, replace it with your name

* Download For Phoenix

  • Example of a Phoenix bat file:

PhoenixMiner.exe -epool stratum+tcp://gate.emcd.io:7878 -ewal IcY -pass x -worker worker -coin etc

  • Where "stratum+tcp://gate.emcd.io:7878" is the stratum of the nearest country. See the list of stratums here

  • Where "IcY" is your username on the pool, replace it with your name

* Download For Nbminer

  • Example of the Nbminer bat file:

nbminer.exe --url stratum+tcp://gate.emcd.io:7878 --user IcY.worker --algo etchash

  • Where "stratum+tcp://gate.emcd.io:7878" is the stratum of the nearest country. See the list of stratums here

  • Where "IcY" is your username on the pool, replace it with your name

Setting up for HiveOS

Downloading the completed flight sheet

The HiveOS system allows users to share ready-made flight sheets. This is done through the export/import of flight sheets. This makes it possible for an inexperienced user not to bother with the configuration.

To upload a ready-made flight sheet for Hive

    • Then (1) select ETC in the upper-left corner and (2) click on the "Connect" button

    • In the window (1) select the GPU Graphics Cards tab, then (2) choose the HiveOS operating system, then (3) select the miner and (4) click Download .json file

  1. Go to HiveOS, then (1) click on the Flight Sheets, (2) click on "File" and select the file that you downloaded before, and (3) click "Create a flight sheet".

Check your statistics here https://emcd.io/pool/dashboard/workers

The equipment takes 15-20 minutes to update the data about the first shares received by the pool. As soon as this happens, the equipment will be displayed on the website.
