How to choose hardware for mining ETC (Ethereum Classic)?

To mine Ethereum Classic (ETC), choose hardware that supports the Ethash algorithm, which underlies this cryptocurrency’s protocol.

Mining ETC on a regular CPU or phone is no longer feasible — such devices are ineffective for this coin

What can be used for ETC mining:

  • GPUs (video cards) that support the Ethash algorithm

  • GPU-based rigs and workers

  • ASIC devices optimized for Ethash

  • The following factors affect reward calculations:

  • Hashrate — computing power of your equipment

  • Power consumption

  • Electricity prices in your region

  • Current market price of ETC

Step-by-step: How to start mining ETC with EMCD?

  • Email — enter your email address, which will be linked to your account. You’ll receive notifications there, for example, about the status of your devices. You can also use it to recover access if you forget your account password.

  • Password — create your secret combination to log into your account. Choose a strong password that includes not only letters but also numbers and special characters.

  • If you have a promo code, click 'Got a promo code?' and enter it.

You can also sign up with Google, Apple, or Telegram.

After creating your account, you’ll receive an email from us — open it and confirm your email address.

If you don’t see the email, check your 'Spam' and 'Promotions' folders.

How to set up ETC mining hardware using an ASIC miner?

You can find the instructions for GPU mining in the section 'How to set up ETC mining hardware using a GPU/video card.'

1. How to log into an ASIC?

To access your ASIC settings, enter its IP address into your browser’s address bar while connected to the same network as the device.

How to find the IP using IP Scanner?

IP Scanner is third-party software. The pool is not responsible for its operation (cl. 5.9 ToS).

  1. Go to the IP Scanner website, download, and install the application.

  2. Enter the required IP address range using the 'IP' button in the toolbar.

  3. Click 'Scan.' Once the scanning is complete, you’ll get a list of devices in the network.

  4. Find your miner in the list, copy its IP address, and paste it into the address bar of any browser.

2. How to configure a connection to the EMCD pool?

After logging into the device, go to the connection settings section. In the screenshot below, this is 'Configuration' → 'Pool Settings'. On your device, it might be located in a differently named section, such as 'Miner' or 'Configuration.'

2.1. Which stratum URLs to use for connecting to EMCD?

In the Address/URL field, enter the stratum URLs for connecting to the pool.

Be sure to fill in all three addresses. For a stable connection, you need stratums with minimal network latency (ping). You must list them in order of increasing ping: the earlier the stratum is in the list, the lower its ping should be.

We do our best to keep the pool running smoothly, but uninterrupted operation can’t be guaranteed. That’s why we recommend filling in all three stratum addresses: if one becomes unavailable, your equipment will switch to a backup automatically. Setting up backup stratums and reconnection is your responsibility (cl. 5.2–5.5 ToS).

Only the first address will be used for mining. The other two will be used automatically if there are issues with the primary one.

Two stratum connection types are available on the pool:

  • TCP stratum (stratum+tcp://) — standard connection protocol used by most miners.

  • TLS stratum (stratum+tls://) — secure connection protocol using TLS encryption.

TCP Stratum addresses by server location:

  • stratum+tcp://gate.emcd.network:7878 — Russia

  • stratum+tcp://eu.emcd.network:7878 — Europe

  • stratum+tcp://kz.emcd.network:7878 — Kazakhstan

  • stratum+tcp://cn.emcd.network:7878 — China

  • stratum+tcp://us.emcd.network:7878 — America

  • stratum+tcp://ru.hash.care:7878 — Russia (Alternative)

TLS Stratum addresses by server location:

  • stratum+tls://gate.emcd.network:17878 — Russia

  • stratum+tls://eu.emcd.network:17878 — Europe

  • stratum+tls://kz.emcd.network:17878 — Kazakhstan

  • stratum+tls://cn.emcd.network:17878 — China

  • stratum+tls://us.emcd.network:17878 — America

  • stratum+tls://ru.hash.care:17878 — Russia (Alternative)

Recommendations for choosing a stratum connection: We recommend choosing a connection type based on your network conditions.

Use TCP stratum if:

  • You have a stable and reliable internet connection

  • You need minimal latency (ping)

Use TLS stratum if:

  • You connect via a public, corporate, or unstable network

  • Additional data protection is important

  • Standard TCP ports are unavailable

2.2. How to name a worker? How to name multiple workers?

In the 'Worker' field, create and enter your device name in the format login.worker.

The dot is a required part of the name.

  • Before the dot, instead of login, use your EMCD username. You can find it in the browser version of the website under the 'Profile' section, or in the app by tapping the letter E at the bottom of the main screen.

  • After the dot, instead of worker, enter the name you want to use for identifying your device in your account dashboard. If you have multiple devices, use different names after the dot so they appear separately in your dashboard. For example: emcdlogin.worker01 or emcdlogin.miner_M50.

Do not use the following characters in a worker name: @&₽\|«»"!

2.3. Do I need to fill in the password field when configuring the device?

You can leave the 'Password' field empty.

2.4. Do I need to restart the device after configuration?

After saving the settings, it’s best to restart the device — for some models, this is required for proper operation. If the settings are correct, the device will appear in the Mining section within 20 minutes.

At first, your worker will be listed under 'unstable workers' because, during the first hour after connecting, the device is syncing with the pool. After that, it will appear in the 'active' list

3. How to set up ETC mining hardware using a GPU/video card?

What determines the amount of ETC mining rewards?

For Ethereum Classic (ETC), the pool calculates rewards using the PPLNS (Pay Per Last N Shares) method. Accruals are calculated based on the accepted valid shares submitted by your equipment and the actual number of blocks found by the pool during the calculation period.

With PPLNS, your reward amount depends directly on pool luck and network difficulty. If the pool's luck was low over the past 24 hours, the reward for the day may be low.

Estimated rewards, profitability calculators, and hashrate charts are provided strictly for informational and monitoring purposes and do not guarantee future payout amounts (cl. 4.15, 6.4 ToS).

Inquiries regarding accruals or payouts are accepted by customer support strictly within 2 calendar days (cl. 4.8 ToS).

Mining is prohibited or requires registration in some countries. You are responsible for the legality of your mining and of connecting your equipment to the power grid (cl. 2.6, 6.9 ToS).
